Christ is Our Pursuit!

Underlying Question: Every person’s life has a center. Every person’s dreams, passions, and goals revolve around one bigger passion. What is your center and what do you revolve your life and days around?

Our Life is in Christ:

Positionally: We are hidden under His protective work on the cross. Nothing can snatch us. (i.e., Colossians 1:16, Romans 8:37-39).

Daily: However, to “dwell in” Christ is a struggle every day as we attempt to pursue Christ.

“Raised with Christ” (v.1)- What does this mean?

·         First, we refer to Col. 2:13-14  ______________________________________________________

·         When Christ died, we were spiritually identified with Him

·         When Christ raised from the death, we were spiritually identified with Him

·         Thus, we have access to His power and His grace

·         We can have the heart and the eyes of God.

“Seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God” (v.1)

“Seek first the Kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33)

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” (v.2)

This takes trust that God will fulfill every longing that we seek here by fulfilling it in His will and in His time.

“For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (v.3)

                1. Your life in not yours. It is Christ’s.

                2. If you are not hidden, then you are exposed

                3. Your life has been hidden in Christ, and it remains that way!

                4. “No one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them

to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10:28-29)

“When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” (v.4)

Application

  • You pursue what you can trust to satisfy you.
  • The greatest battle you will even encounter is self-battle to trust God in every area and situation of your life.
  • Have you thanked God for the hurting?

Take-Home Truth

You Pursue What You Prize. You Prize What You Trust. You Trust What Your Pursue.
